National Migrant Inclusion Conference
2026

Challenge

The design challenge was to create a compelling visual identity and social media strategy for the National Migrant Inclusion Conference 2026, bringing together diverse communities, organisations, policymakers, and advocates around a shared vision of inclusion. The project required a cohesive design system that communicated diversity, belonging, and collaboration while remaining professional, accessible, and adaptable across digital platforms. Alongside the conference branding, the challenge was to develop a social media approach that could build awareness, encourage participation, highlight key speakers and themes, and create momentum before, during, and after the event.

Lack of a Strategic Social Media Framework

There was no established social media framework to guide the conference campaign. A clear strategy was needed to create consistent messaging, strengthen the visual identity, engage the right audiences, and build awareness across platforms.

Tight Timeline

I joined the project as a contract designer, working within a tight timeline to quickly understand the conference goals and deliver a cohesive visual direction. This required developing the branding, social media strategy, and campaign assets efficiently while maintaining consistency and quality.

Design Concepts

The jigsaw puzzle became a central visual metaphor for the National Migrant Inclusion Conference 2026, representing how people with different cultures, experiences, perspectives, and expertise contribute to a stronger, more inclusive society. Each piece has its own colour, shape, and position, symbolising individuality and the distinct contribution every person brings. When the pieces connect, they form something larger and more meaningful—reflecting the conference’s focus on belonging, collaboration, participation, and inclusion. The intentionally separated piece also represents the ongoing work of inclusion: recognising who may still be excluded and creating the connections needed so that everyone has a place in the bigger picture.

What I Achieved

During my contract as Social Media Officer at the Immigrant Council of Ireland, I led the design and social media strategy for the National Migrant Inclusion Conference 2026. I developed a cohesive visual direction and strategic content approach that strengthened the conference’s online presence, improved consistency across campaign materials, and brought themes of diversity, inclusion, and migrant representation to life through engaging social and video content.

Developed a Strategic Social Media Framework

Developed a social media strategy aligned with organisational communications and advocacy goals, introducing proactive content planning to improve campaign alignment and consistency across channels.

Built a Scalable Design System

Created a scalable, brand-aligned social media design system with reusable templates and visual guidelines, standardising identity across platforms and improving content production speed and consistency.

Enhanced Social Media Management

Managed Facebook and Instagram publishing through Meta Business Suite, improving scheduling efficiency and ensuring greater consistency across content delivery. I also utilised LinkedIn’s scheduling tools, Page Admin features, and analytics to streamline posting, monitor engagement, and optimise overall content performance.

The Video Campaign

I developed a video campaign featuring interviews with ICI staff members, showcasing diversity in the workplace through different backgrounds, appearances, accents, languages, and areas of expertise. The campaign put real people at the centre of the story, creating an authentic and engaging representation of inclusion in practice.
